The defending champions hoped to continue their impressive form before the World Cup break when they welcomed the visitors in 19th place.

The hosts dominated the game from the start and soon found themselves in the lead after Neymar set up Marquinhos, who fired on goal in the 14th minute to put the hosts 1-0 up.

However, the visitors tried to respond by creating a couple of chances for themselves, but ultimately lacked the leading edge when it mattered most for most of the period.

Despite PSG’s dominance of possession, Marquinhos’ first-half goal marked the difference between the two teams as the hosts went into half-time with a slim lead.

The second half was quite dramatic for the hosts as they drew level again thanks to an unfortunate own goal by captain Marquinhos in the 51st minute.

10 minutes later, more drama ensued with Neymar being sent off for diving after receiving his second yellow of the night in the 62nd minute.

The Brazilian was apparently furious after referee Clement Turpin’s decision, but eventually had to fight his way through the tunnel leaving Christophe Galtier with 10 men on the field.

Despite being a man down, the hosts still looked stronger than their opponents and constantly pushed for the winner despite defensive resistance from Strasbourg.

The visitors had done a good job keeping PSG’s attack at bay until the 95th minute into added time when Gerzino Nyamsi was penalized for a foul in the area.

Referee Clement Turpin signaled the point and moments later, Kylian Mbappe made no mistake from the point to give PSG a 2-1 win against Strasbourg.

Mbappe would immediately go into the referees’ book for his wild celebration as Christophe Galtier secured his seventh home win of the season, extending his lead at the top of the summit to eight points.
