A Labor Party team, Value-Driven Leadership, has created application software for supporters of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, to increase their voter turnout in their various units of vote.
LP Presidential Campaign Council director general Akin Osuntokun, during the launch of the Townhall app in Victoria Island, Lagos on Sunday, noted that the platform would minimize election rigging.
Osuntokun said, “The Townhall App will transform the credibility of the elections held in Nigeria because it will create an important platform for both voters and candidates. Technology has created a trend whereby there is a minimization of electoral fraud and manipulation and this app was designed to embody that trend.
“This app is not just limited to choice, its relevance goes further to involve the collection of data and statistics. We see that 4,732 members have signed up for the app in 37 states, including the Federal Capital Territory and 1,822 districts, so it will encourage accountability in governance.”
Also speaking at the event, Obi’s special adviser, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, explained that the app would ensure that a proper structure is created for the party.
“Peter Obi is guaranteed to win three out of six zones in the country and that is why we want to use the game changing app to empower us with the proper awareness of what we need to do before the election, during the election and after. -election day.
“The obedient are everywhere and we must organize to provide the proper structure to help us win the elections,” he said.
For her part, VDL Convener Nwakama Okoye said the platform would bridge the gap between online and offline supporters of Obi and Baba-Ahmed.
