The popular social media platform, Instagram, has announced new changes to its home screen, starting February 2023.

The Meta-owned platform, in an update on Monday, revealed that part of the changes would involve the removal of the ‘Shop’ tab from its home screen.

The ‘Buy’ option allows people to easily purchase items from business owners on the platform.

Despite the removal, Instagram noted that business owners would still be able to set up and run their stores in the middle.

Another change to Instagram would be a shortcut for creating reels and content.

According to the statement, the changes were to help people more easily connect with their friends and interests.

The update read: “Starting in February, we will be changing Instagram navigation to make it easier for people to share and connect with their friends and interests.

“The navigation bar at the bottom of the app will now have the shortcut to create content in the center and Reels on the right.

“As part of this change, the Instagram Shop tab will be removed.

“You’ll still be able to set up and manage your store on Instagram as we continue to invest in shopping experiences that deliver the most value for people and businesses across feeds, stories, Reels, ads, and more.”
