This assurance comes from the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council Spokesperson, Yunusa Tankowho boasted that the Labor Party has continued to win the favor of well-meaning Nigerians.
He revealed it in an exclusive conversation with the punch where he reacted to a claim that Obi worked for the presidential candidate of the Congress of All Progressives (APC), Asiwaju Ball Tinubu.
Remember that the Senate Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kaluwhile speaking on a Channels Television political programme, ‘One-on-one’, a few days ago he had alleged that Obi is a forerunner of the former Lagos state governor.
Refuting the claim, Tanko insisted that Obi’s presidential movement was not an individual project, but one that cut across every state in the country.
Asked if the Labor Party’s presidential candidate would get more backing from relevant figures ahead of the February 25 election, Tanko said:Of course, as we speak today, this particular quest is not about one individual, it is a collective fight to get Nigeria out of the current quagmire. Therefore, all states are expected to work for this project..”
The spokesman also made reference to the words of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his New Year’s message to Nigerians in which he endorsed Obi and also urged the youth to focus on the task at hand.
Tanko quoted Obasanjo thus: “Neither contestant is a saint, but when one compares their character, background, their insight, knowledge, discipline and stamina they can bring to the table and the great efforts required to stay focused on the job, particularly looking at where the country is today. and with the experience on the job that I personally had, Peter Obi as an apprentice has an advantage.”
“Peter Obi is working for the Nigerian people and has promised that he will change the narrative of Nigeria from a consumption stage to a production stage. I think that all those who are trying to be associated with the progress of Mr. Peter Obi-Datti are just trying to get public attention. As we speak, we are sailing towards victory for the Nigerian people..”
He emphasized that, “This is just what former President Olusegun Obasanjo said that if you are looking for someone with a background, vision, character and physical attributes with mental ability, that is exactly what Peter Obi personifies. Peter Obi is working hard to get Nigeria out of the forest.”
