Five people were confirmed dead and four others in critical condition after an as-yet-unidentified motorist plowed into dancers during a New Year party organized by some friends in the Akinmori community, in the Afijio local government area of the yo state.

This, according to an eyewitness, did not sit well with the man and he then got into his car annoyed.
A source said: “The young man drove to the party location at full speed and was scolded by his friends who were already at the party.
“After the intervention of some elders, the young man reluctantly got into his car. Still angry from the confrontation, he vowed to spill blood. He then started the car and approached the dancing friends, knocking over 10 people down.”
Investigations by our correspondent, however, revealed that three of his friends, who were in the car at the time of the incident, were arrested after the driver fled the scene.
State police public relations officer Adewale Osifeso confirmed the incident, adding that an investigation had been launched.
