New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has described the recent targeting of politicians by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as a waste of time.
According to the presidential hopeful, all the big politicians, especially the presidential candidates, had controlled shares in big banks or had friends in those banks who would help them mobilize whatever amount they needed for their campaigns.
Kwankwaso further added that no bank operating in any of the 36 states would turn down their host, stating that CBN’s new policy will only punish innocent poor Nigerians.
The former Kano State Governor revealed this while appearing on Channels Television on Thursday, February 2.
I ask:
“Why should a Nigerian needlessly inflict this kind of pain on people who are already suffering?”
The NNPP leader argued that the central bank should have given enough time and its implementation should have been done gradually.

Kwankwaso also dismissed the claim by Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, that the duo are in merger talks. He accused the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of sponsoring propaganda and lies.
He revealed that he has never met Atiku in person since he left the PDP.
