An as yet to be identified naval clearance has been arrested in the death of a teenager, Nengi Enenimiete, whose body was found in a hotel in Twon Brass, in the Brass local government area of Bayelsa state.
In November 2022, police said the offensive odor from the 16-year-old’s decomposing corpse led to the discovery of her body in the hotel closet.
PUNCH Subway They picked up on Sunday that the suspect was detained by the naval police in collaboration with youth from the community.
According to a source, the suspect is in the custody of the Nigerian Navy at Egweama in Brass LGA, and would be handed over to the police for prosecution after the internal naval trial.
State police command spokesman Asinim Butswat said the body was found by the hotel manager.
Efforts to obtain comment from the Public Relations Officer of the Central Naval Command, Yenagoa, Commander Yohana, were unsuccessful, as his number was disconnected at press time.
Butswat, while confirming the incident, said: “On November 21, 2022, the manager of a hotel in Twon Brass reported to Divisional Police Headquarters, Brass, that he noticed an unpleasant odor in one of the hotel rooms. Upon a search, he discovered a lifeless female corpse hidden inside a closet.
“The deceased was later identified as 16-year-old Nengi Enenimiete. An investigation is underway to identify the suspects who stayed in the hotel room the night of the incident. The corpse has been deposited in a morgue for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing”.
