Nigeria is set to take part in the pinnacle of esports competition in the world, the FIFAe Nations Cup competition.

The deal with Gamr will see the esports and gaming technology company act as a “technical partner” for the federation’s participation in the FIFA-sanctioned FIFAe Nations Cup competition.

The FIFAe Nations Cup is the pinnacle event for esports players to represent their countries on a global stage.

This competition involves players competing for their country at the regional level and then qualifying as one of 24 nations to participate in the final.

Speaking about the development, Nigerian Esports Federation President Clinton Agbor stated that the association is a good opportunity for Nigerian esports lovers to showcase their talents.

“This is a good opportunity for Nigerian FIFA esports players to showcase their talent through the FIFAe Nations Cup competition,” Agbor said.

The Federation also added that both the partnership between the three stakeholders will do well to provide more opportunities for FIFA esports players in Nigeria and foster collaboration among stakeholders in the ecosystem as a whole.

In partnership with the Nigerian Esports Federation, the initial campaign will feature a comprehensive grassroots program for the emergence of player representatives who will represent Nigeria in online qualifiers in April 2023.

The latest development sees Gamr continue to strengthen its presence in the country having hosted over 300 tournaments including the Nigerian University Games Association, NUGA.
