Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has vowed to recall People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubarkar and All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu if elected president in the February 25 elections.
Peter Obi also said that Nigerians will not want to elect people who are known to have plundered the nation’s treasury in the past.
Speaking at the campaign rally in Asaba, Delta state on Monday, Obi also vowed to revitalize the Warri refinery which has been in disrepair and also ensure the completion of the East-West highway which has remained incomplete for the past 24 years.
“We will get Warri Port working again. We will complete the East-West path. They have been building the road for 24 years, but we will complete it,” Obi said.
“If you put my age and Datti’s age and divide it by two, we are in our fifties. The other people if you put theirs are septuagenarians. You know there is a retirement age. The PDP president is 70 years old, the APC president is 70 years old. The chairman of the Labor Party is 52 years old. So it’s our turn. We will retire them, we will pay them compensation.
“Our government will be one for youth and women. That’s why I told you our average age, not these other people, we don’t know their age, we don’t know where they were born, we don’t know what school they went to.
“I know you heard when they said that Peter is cheap. I agree, Nigeria does not want people stealing their money again. We want to use our money for our people.
“This election is about character and people we can trust. Everyone knows the schools I attended. When I was governor in Anambra everyone knows what I did, all the work I did. When I left the government, everyone knows where I live, go and check.”
Also speaking, Labor Party vice-presidential candidate Datti Baba Ahmed said that both the PDP and APC leaders have failed and have nothing to offer Nigerians.
“Do you know how to find out who these losers are, they have promised for 24 years, the other half promised for 16 years, the other half promised for 8 years, and they all failed. How do you know that a loser, with everything he’s had, can’t face Peter Obi and me and talk security, he’ll hide behind and talk structure? The structure they used to destroy Nigeria and keep us where we are today.”
The national chairman of the Labor Party, the lawyer Julius Abure, also applauded Peter Obi’s rare qualities, even saying he would have supported the candidate if he were not in the Labor Party.
“There is no denying the fact that the country is in a coma, it is in trouble and nothing works in the country. This is the only chance we have to change the narrative of this country,” she said.
“It’s not because Peter Obi is running for the Labor Party; if I were in the PDP and Peter Obi was running in the Labor Party, I would have supported him. I say this because he has what it takes to change the country.
