Former Dean of Student Affairs and current Acting Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Benin, Professor Patrick Osarenmwinda Igbinaduwa, charged the government with improving funding in the country’s tertiary system.

While identifying underfunding issues in tertiary institutions, among others, as the main problem, Igbinaduwa praised faculty for their efforts to produce outstanding graduates despite system lapses. He claimed that some Nigerian graduates at home and abroad are known leaders who stand out in their field of study, making particular references to Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and even Politics and Entertainment.

He took the opportunity to call on the government to take a critical look at the education system and address the challenges it faces, adding that this can only be done with the help of experts who already know the system.
