“Having 36 states and Abuja in Asaba for the Sports Festival is a big task, so we are more particular about making everyone feel at home to compete in a good environment.

“We are working hard to ensure a smooth event. The facilities are there, but there are many other logistics involved in organizing a big event like this. It’s our own Olympics, but we’re up to it, having also organized the African championships in athletics just a few years ago.

“Putting on a good show until December 10 is the LOC’s priority, winning the games at the end will only be the icing on the cake.”

Meanwhile, five states have yet to register a single medal in the festival, the states being Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Yobe and Zamfara.

The biannual sports event started in Asaba on December 4 and will end on December 10.
