Edo Queens Football Club of Benin-City started the new year with an away win, the team defeating Ibom Angels at Godswill Akpabio Training Ground in Uyo.

The Benin City ladies moved five points clear at the top of Group B after their away win in Uyo.

A free kick from Rebecca Ajimuda gave the visitors the lead on 30 minutes, a few minutes later Rebecca doubled the lead to record her brace of the day.

Ibom Angels were well off pace and were unable to cope with the visitors trying to add to the tally, but Ibom Angels goalkeeper Patience David showed great spirit as he prevented the mobile Edo Queen strikers from scoring any more goals.

With the results, Ibom Angels is seventh on the record with three points from five games. The team has suffered consecutive losses at home.

The defending champions continued their good form when they hosted the Osun Babes at Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenogoa.

Flourish Sabastine opened the goal chat for the host in the fourth minute, five minutes later Etim Edidiong doubled the lead.

The CAF Champions League bronze medalist sealed victory after Mwaka Mupeta and Zainab Olopade registered their names in the goal chat.

Bayelsa currently sit second on the record behind Delta Queens with ten points from four games, while the Osun girls sit sixth on the record.

Confluence Queens is another team that achieved victory away from home in the fifth round by defeating Nasarawa Amazons.

It was a five-goal thriller in Nasarawa, Chioma Moses scoring for the visitors in the tenth minute before Titilayo Aweda equalized for the host in the 26th minute.

A minute after the break, Chioma Moses completed his brace to give the visitors the lead again. Titilayo Aweda also completed his brace in the 68th minute as he equalized for the hosts.

Mary Opara’s goal in the 73rd minute sealed the first win of the season for Confluence Queens.

In other results, Delta Queens defeated Naija Ratels 2-0 while Heartland Queens and Rivers Angels split the spoils.
