Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has accused the current administration headed by President Muhammadu Buhari of distributing unequal appointments.
Speaking of the prosecution while delivering his remarks entitled, ‘The Search for Unity in Nigeria and the Role of Unity Schools’, at the 50th anniversary of the Federal Government College, Kaduna, on Saturday.
Obasanjo said he regrets that the appointments made by the government are biased and unbalanced on the basis of nepotism and mediocrity and disregard for merit and competence.
The Punch reports that the former president warned that leaders across the country are focused on their selfish interests and refuse to address the plight of the people.
His words:
“First, I am concerned that the current state of our nation’s economy has widened the chasm of inequality and left many people in despair. Inflation is on the rise; Poverty and hardship have returned to many homes.
“The last decade has reversed many of the economic gains that were achieved in the first decade of the century.

“There is a general feeling of hopelessness across the country with insecurity seemingly uncontrollable.”
The former leader pointed out that political parties and politicians have been encouraged to discard some of the things that were put in place to give all groups a sense of belonging.
added:
“Nigeria belongs to all of us and no part of the country should be left in doubt about its place in this union under any circumstances; ethnic, religious, language, region, culture or social position”.

In a video that went viral on social media, she mistakenly told Nigerians to vote for the ruling party against her husband’s PDP.
“By February 25, everyone needs to come, if you haven’t picked up your PVC, go pick up your PVC…we should vote APC; APC promised to do many things for the country, but now we can see ourselves as we are,” said Ms. Atiku.
