The Labor Party’s presidential candidate, Pedro ObiHe pledged Saturday to diligently serve the country if he is elected in next month’s presidential election.

Mr. Obi made the pledge while meeting Muslim and Christian leaders in South Kaduna, northwestern Nigeria.

Mr Obi, who was in the company of his vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, dismissed concerns raised by one of the religious leaders about a possible disagreement with his running mate if they are elected to office.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Throne Room in Kafanchan, Mr. Obi said that he and his running mate are passionate about serving Nigeria and not making money.

“The reason people fight is the transaction. I have no reason for self-enrichment, God has given me enough. I’m happy Those who steal money from the government abuse the grace of God. We want to work for this country. There is nothing else we need,” Obi said.

Obi insisted that what Nigeria lacks are committed and competent leaders.

“We will fight against corruption. The presidency requires physical and mental energy, and not a home for the old and tired.
