- Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been hailed for his role in extending the naira swap exercise
- It was reported that the presidential candidate of the Congress of All Progressives (APC) expressed his dissatisfaction with the deadline issued by the CBN
- However, Arewa4Asiwaju believes that Tinubu’s statement on the situation forced CBN to succumb to the pressure.
Arewa4Asiwaju has claimed that Bola Tinubu’s statement against the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) initial deadline for the redemption of the old naira notes for the new notes played a significant role in the extension of the deadline.
Tinubu was praised by Arewa4Asiwaju for being fierce in reacting to the initial deadlines.
The group said:
“It was this courage and determined leadership displayed by Asiwaju that forced the government to back down from its previous ‘no backing down’ stance.
According to Arewa4Asiwaju, Nigerians owe the APC chief a great deal of gratitude for saving the country from chaos due to a shortage of the new naira banknotes.
Old naira notes: Tinubu’s courage saved Nigeria from chaos, says Arewa4Asiwaju
The group’s north-central coordinator, Aliyu Musa Pass, said in a statement that Tinubu’s courage and ability to speak up when necessary saved the nation from chaos.
As reported by The Nation, he said:
“And by that singular action, Tinubu also saved the nation from going up in flames in the aftermath of the furious public anger that pervaded the atmosphere before the sudden 10-day extension.
“Tinubu, proving to be a great statesman, in his now famous Abeokuta statement, took the bold and necessary step of warning of the dangers inherent in the new naira policy, its timing and deadline.
