The stakeholders were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Geoffrey Onyeamathe former president of the Senate, Ken Nnamaniformer State Governor, Mr Sullivan Chimeand former speaker of the state House of Assembly, Chief Eugene Odo among others.
Briefing reporters, Chime said that the interested parties were at the airport to receive the presidential candidate, but due to the internal problem they had with the state president, Chief Ugochukwu Agballahthey would not appear at the rally.
He recalled that the parties concerned had organized a peaceful protest outside his National Secretariat in Abuja over the President’s attitude and regretted that nothing was done about it.
The former governor said that someone unknown to the party emerged as party chairman and ever since, the party had been in disarray.
He also complained that the party’s candidate for governor and the deputy were from the same senatorial area and pointed out that it had never happened since the history of democracy.
The former governor said that they would all work hard to ensure APC’s victory during the general election, but they had no choice but to distance themselves from such an illegal act.
Subsequently, the former president of the Senate, Ken Nnamani Although he indicated his anger, he said that the party had external interference.
He said the state party chairman and the gubernatorial candidate were running the party as a single administrator.
Nnamani said that they neglected their leaders in all party activities and noted that the caliber of people they had in APC were people who could take the party to a greater height.
He, however, said that if the disorder was not stopped, there would be no peace in the state.
Also contributing was former speaker of the state House of Assembly, Chief Eugene Odo, who said party leaders in the state did not witness the rally due to the president’s attitude towards stakeholders.
Odo explained that Governor Hope Uzodinma As the leader of the party in the southeast, you must ensure the unity of the party instead of using mediocre people to lead the party.
For this reason, he said that those interested in the state had decided to distance themselves from such a childish act.
