Osun State House of Assembly Speaker Timothy Owoeye predicted that the immediate former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, would return to office before July 5 this year.

Owoeye, speaking at the inauguration of the Osun state branch of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in Osogbo on Thursday, further noted that the defeat suffered by the All Progressives Congress in the Osun gubernatorial election on 16 July was a temporary setback.

He then urged party members to work for the victory of Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2023 general election.

According to him, “in 2019, the Supreme Court gave its final verdict on July 5, affirming Oyetola’s victory as governor. If you know them, go and tell them that before July 5, 2023, Oyetola will once again be Governor of Osun.

“They thought they could rig the election results in their favor, but thank God the results of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) exposed them.

“So please, the presidential election is very important to us and we want you to start mobilizing our people to massively vote for our presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate Senator Kashim Shettima and all the other candidates. of our party. .”

In his remarks before inaugurating the campaign council, Oyetola praised Tinubu’s leadership qualities, describing him as a genius and a problem solver.

Oyetola, while asking party members to remain firm and united, also expressed his satisfaction with the firmness of the party structure and the commitment of the APC leadership and members in the state.

He praised party loyalists for their unwavering support, their loyalty in the face of daunting challenges, and for continually remaining determined to the cause of progressivism, especially since after the state’s July 16 gubernatorial election.

Osun Governor’s spokesman Olawale Rasheed could not be reached for a reaction to Owoeye’s claim as calls to his line rang and he had not responded to a text message sent to him at the time of filing this report.
