Reacting to a trending photo of an alleged meeting with Wike, Ayu stated that there was no meeting between him and the governor in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, or anywhere else in Nigeria this week.

What Ayu said: “Dr. Ayu clearly states that he has never traveled to Port Harcourt and has not seen Governor Wike lately.

“The photography that is a trend in social networks is old. The accompanying story is therefore false and mischievous.

“It also adds, for the purposes of factual accuracy, that it is in no way under siege.

“The National President is, rather, enjoying the New Year holidays with his family.

“The general public, and especially the PDP family, are advised to ignore the story,” Ayu said, through his Special Advisor on Media and Communications, Simon Imobo-Tswam.

DPP crisis: Wike and his associates (G5 governors) have been campaigning for Ayu’s resignation on the grounds that it violates the party constitution for the national president to come from the same geopolitical area as the presidential candidate.

The problem in PDP: Ayu is from Benue in the center-north, while atiku abubakarthe standard-bearer for the PPD, hails from Adamawa, in north-eastern Nigeria.

What you should know: The G5 governors have made it clear that they will not work for Atiku in the 2023 general election.
