The Labor Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said that Nigeria’s survival and development would be beneficial to the UK.

The former Anambra state governor said that with Britain leaving the European Union, the British government should be more committed than ever to Nigeria’s survival.

Obi made the disclosure during an interview with a journalist at Sky News, a UK-based news company.

Describing the former governor as a 2023 presidential candidate who has gone from long shot to frontrunner in just a few months, the interviewer said Peter Obi is a new name in emerging African politics.

Obi speaking said that everything seems to be wrong with Nigerians and this time, the youth of the nation have made a strong decision to take back their country.

His words:

“Everyone can see, especially young people can see that something is wrong and say that we want to change the situation.

When asked what he would do as president in relation to Britain and why the British people should care about the Nigerian elections, Obi replied:

“Because it’s important to them, we have 200 million people and if their economy changes today, it’s a great market for Britain.

“It’s critical for them and Britain has left the European Union, they need Commonwealth members.”
