Rivers State Police Command said its officers arrested three suspected cultists in the Bean community in the Khana local government area of the state.
Police also said a locally made pistol was recovered from the suspects who have been terrorizing Khana LGA.
Command spokeswoman Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed this in a statement issued to reporters in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
Iringe-koko explained that men from the anti-cult unit in Bori, Khana LGA headquarters, acting on a tip, made the arrest on Monday.
The statement read: “On Monday, January 9, 2023, at approximately 03:43 a.m., at a notice in the community of Gure, Khana LGA of Rivers State, officers from the Anti-Cult Unit, Bori Annex arrested the suspects.
“They are Kensuanu Loveday Dick (m) aka ‘Aaro’, the executioner of the Icelandic cult group Myimaka Olu (m) and a Junior Mbo (m) from the Bean community who have been terrorizing the area.
“During the search in Junior Mbo, a locally made pistol was discovered. They will be charged in court once the investigations are complete.”
He reiterated the command’s determination to minimize crime and criminality in all its forms.
Although she urged members of the public to remain vigilant at all times, Iringe-Koko urged them to report any suspicious activity or movement within their neighborhood to police so they can take appropriate action.
