Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has expressed his delight at returning to footballing action in Ponferradina’s 2-1 win over Villareal B in the Spanish Second Division game on Friday.

Nwakali suffered a blow to his right leg on 26 November during Ponferradina’s 1–0 loss to Málaga in a Spanish Segunda B match and was substituted in the 57th minute of the match.

The 24-year-old Nigerian midfielder has made a quick recovery and was in action for Ponferradina as he came on for Erik Morán in the 59th minute and played a fantastic game for Deportiva at the El Toralin Stadium.

“Starting the year off right +3 and it feels good to be back,” Nwakali tweeted after the match.

The former Huesca player has made 17 appearances for Ponferradina and has scored one goal and two assists for Ponferradina in all competitions this season.

Nwakali was also voted best Ponferradina player in the first half of the 2022/2023 season after his brilliant performance.
