Jordan Ayew’s first Premier League goal in seven months inspired Crystal Palace to a 2-0 win over Bournemouth.
Goals from Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew and Nigeria-eligible Eberechi Eze proved decisive in giving Patrick Vieira’s men three points.
The result is Palace’s sixth league win of the season and ensures the Eagles would finish 2022 11th in the league table.
Bournemouth 0-2 Crystal Palace
Palace took the lead with less than 20 minutes played, Jordan Ayew scoring his first PL goal of the season, heading to the ground at the near post, having gone completely unmarked.
The Ghanaian striker was assisted by Michael Olise, the 21-year-old winger eligible to represent Nigeria and Algeria.
Olise would get another assist, this time, a low ball on the edge of the box found Eberechi Eze, who swept in to give his team a well-deserved cushion of two goals at half time.
The second half was all about preserving the lead for Crystal Palace as Bournemouth continued to search for a way back.
Solanke forced a save from Vicente Guaita in what was the only chance of the second half for the hosts who dominated possession in the closing stages but fell short of ideas and failed to turn the score around.
Bournemouth suffered a sixth defeat in seven Premier League games. Meanwhile, Patrick Vieira’s side can celebrate a rare win on the road, only their second in 10 league trips away from home.
