The president of the Igueben Area Customary Court, Preciosa Aigbonoga, who was kidnapped on Monday while on her way to work, is rescued.

PUNCH Subway deduced that the rescue operation was carried out on Thursday by soldiers and police, who assaulted the forest where she was being held.

She, however, suffered gunshot wounds, while a policeman lost his life in the operation.

A source close to the family confirmed that Aigbonoga was at an undisclosed hospital receiving treatment for gunshot wounds.

The source said: “He has been reunited with his family. The kidnappers shot him.”

Edo state police public relations officer SP Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the court president’s rescue, said the police lost one officer in the operation.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Bar Association, Benin branch, praised security agencies for the operation.

In a press release, the association’s Publicity Secretary, Festus Usiobaifo, expressed his sadness that a policeman lost his life in the incident.
