Kano State Sports Commission Executive Chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has announced the disbandment of the Kano Pillars basketball team.
This was contained in a statement signed by Ado Salisu, PRO of the Kano State Veterans Basketball Association and made available to Tidesports on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Sports Commission approved the re-election of Kano Emir Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as president of the State Basketball Association.
Ibrahim Galadima said this while announcing the disbandment of the Kano Pillars basketball team players in his office.
Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Galadima explained that the reconstitution of the association’s board became necessary after the decrease in the team’s departures.
The president explained that the board, along with other associations that have been dissolved in 2021, consider it necessary to reconstitute the basketball board with the aim of repositioning the team.
Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Galadima tasked the Association’s new board of directors, led by Emir de Kano, to recruit new players with a view to advancing the game.
Former captain of the national basketball team and former NBBF vice president Alhaji Muktar Adamu Khalid is the vice president, while former international and former permanent secretary of the Federal Foreign Office Ambassador Mustapha Lawan Sulaiman, former state land director , Aminu Jafar, Rabiu Abdu Sharif and former State Handball Association Secretary Usman Yahaya were members.
Other members are former basketball player Bashir Chedi, Ado Wayo, Umar Bala, Ado Abdullahi Rano and Tijjani Paki.
