As the demand for justice for murdered pregnant lawyer Bolanle Raheem grows, the court has remanded the alleged killer policeman, ASP Drambi Vandi, to Ikoyi Correctional Facility, Lagos State, until 30 January 2023.

Lagos State Police Command spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin made this known in a tweet on Friday, stating that the decision was made after Vandi was indicted for pulling the trigger that claimed Raheem’s life on Christmas Day in the Ajah area of Lagos state.

Hundeyin added that the order was to accommodate the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

The police PR officer tweeted: “Drambi Vandi was, this morning, arraigned in court and has been remanded to Ikoyi Correctional Center until 30th January 2023 to accommodate DPP advice.”

This comes one day after Vandi’s immediate suspension was approved by the Police Service Commission.

PSC spokesman Ikechukwu Ani confirmed the fact in a statement after Police Inspector General Usman Baba recommended Vandi’s suspension for his actions.

Ani said: “The commission, in a letter to the Inspector General of Police signed by the acting chairperson, Clara Ogunbiyi, stated that the commission has carefully examined the facts of the case, observations and recommendations regarding the allegations against the officer and granted the approval for the suspension of the officer from his duties with immediate effect”.
