Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, has ensured that there will be adequate security for athletes and officials at the Nigerian Polytechnic Games Association 2023.
It was collected that 40 polytechnics will participate in this year’s event.
Speaking about the competition, the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Gani Ogundahunsi, stated at a press conference to announce the start of the sports festival, that the competition would be trouble-free as proper measures had been implemented.
He said: “All the necessary facilities for the Games have been put in place, while some parts of the institution’s sports complex are still being worked on to make the party memorable.
“The Games will facilitate national integration, bring our youth together for positive projects that will create opportunities for them.
“NIPOGA is a sports festival uniting 112 Nigerian polytechnics, both federal and state polytechnics. It will have a positive impact on our image, we are very happy with the games, we are not unaware of some other problems that are now very common with us in the nation. So, we have everything we can to take good care of all those things.
“We have an agreement with all state security agencies, including our campus security unit. They will help us control the movement of our guests during their stay on campus, for the duration of the party.
“We want to reassure people that we have taken care of the security issues in Owo, our host community. Security has been tightened everywhere to protect everyone during this party.”
