The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole AdebayoHe has promised to reduce the poverty rate in Nigeria and provide more opportunities for young people when they are elected.

Mr. Adebayo, who was represented by his vice-presidential candidate Yusuf Buhari, said this during a visit to Ile Ife’s Ogunsua de Modakeke, Oba Joseph Olubiyi Ajibise Ogo 1.

According to a statement by the Adebayo Presidential Campaign Organization in Abuja, he said the SDP was inspired by Chapter 2 of the 1999 Constitution which states that sovereignty belongs to the people.

He said that the leadership, therefore, is made up of the people and their job is to ensure the welfare of the people.

He said that one of the main problems facing the country is poverty everywhere despite its abundant blessings of material and human resources.

Adebayo said that in certain parts of the country, some people do not have food to eat to the point of picking up leftovers in landfills to feed their children.

“If you go through some areas at night, you will see some people sleeping everywhere on the streets, without shelter.

“If you go to the hospitals, the patients are on the floor, without a bed, just one doctor with thousands of patients.

Adebayo said the previous administration had failed to improve the welfare of ordinary citizens, adding that the SDP was in the running to make things better for Nigerians.

“We are here to assure you of all the plans that we have drawn up, even when we arrive we will fulfill them. We know it will be difficult but we are going to achieve it by the grace of God”.

Mr. Adebayo assured that the Nigerian youth would benefit a lot from the match as he believes that it is the youth who are making great achievements for Nigeria.
