SDP Social Democratic Party Senate candidate for Nasarawa Western Senatorial District Alhaji Ahmed Wadada and Mr. Jonathan Gaza (SDP-Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal District) have started neighborhood campaigns to seek votes in the 2023 general election .

The duo began their campaign rallies in the state’s Keffi Local Government Area on Monday.

While Wadada is running for the Nasarawa Western Senatorial District seat, Gaza is seeking re-election to continue representing the Karu/Keffi/Kokona constituency in the House of Representatives.

So far, the SDP candidates had visited the districts of Tudun Kofa, Gangaren Tudu, Yara, Iya II and Iya I, where they interacted with huge crowds chanting various slogans in support of their aspirations.

Speaking after the campaigns, Wadada praised the high turnout of people in the various districts and attributed the development to the acceptance of his party by the electorate in the area.

“I want to assure you that this is not a rented crowd. This is a built-up crowd.

“When we left my house with the Hon. Gaza and other party members, we only had our vehicles in the convoy.

“As we were driving from the campaign office to the first venue, the crowd began to build up.

“We are too widely accepted by God’s special grace.

“Team Wadada, Gaza and others will be ungrateful if we rent crowds given the love and acceptance people have freely offered us,” he said.

Wadada said that the affection and support shown by the crowd was reciprocated with the support and concern that the party and its candidates have shown to the people, especially the poor in the past.

“In every local government we go to, you’ll see exactly this turnout because it’s about the people and we’ve been with the people.

“We have shown love. We have shown concern. We have shown interest in people.

“When I represented this Federal Circumscription, my representation was a supportive, educational and illuminating representation.

“It was also a very commendable and effective performance and that is exactly what the Hon. Gaza is doing.

“The other candidates who are with us have not been elected before, but because of their background, they have cared, shown love, managed people,” he said.

Wadada added that the importance of the campaign launch was to show that the SDP and its candidates were the best options for the seats they were vying for.

In an interview, Gaza said that since he entered politics, it has become a personal policy to work for the people who elected him and not to take for himself what belongs to others.

This, he added, informed the popularity he has been enjoying and the large turnout of people to show their support for him and SDP.

“What is for the people I keep for the people and what is for me by way of my allowances, I keep for myself.

“So having the fear of God and the supreme desire to know that one day when you leave this earth is very important.

“Once you have this and you know that you are going to meet your creator and give him an account, by the special grace of God, you will do the best you can.” he said.

Gaza said he was focused on winning the 2023 general election and getting another chance to serve his people for another four-year term.

assured, “All the districts of the federal constituency and the senatorial district would be visited and people would have the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with the party and its champions in the area.”

Also speaking, Mr. Abdullahi Abubakar, the SDP candidate for the Keffi East constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, said the chances of winning any election lay with the people.

“From all indications, we have seen that the gigantic crowd here will give us the maximum votes we deserve and by the grace of God we will emerge victorious.” he said.

NAN reports that the highlight of the event was the distribution of 100 wrappers and a cash donation of N350,000 in each of the five districts visited in the Keffi local government area.
