Social media went into a frenzy when the founder of DAAR Communications Limited, Senior Chief Raymond Dokpesi, was briefly arrested by police in the UK.
Africa Independent Television (AIT) management confirmed that Dokpesi was later released after his delay at London’s Heathrow airport.
Ripples Nigeria understands that the head of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made the trip to London following the invitation of Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, on some assignments in the UK.
Nigerians turned to their social media handles to speculate on the reason for the arrest, as neither the UK police nor the PDP had made any public statement about the arrest.

See how Nigerians are reacting:
Who knows if Raymond Dokpesi was used as an SPV for the Grand Commander of Corruption 😂
I heard your case has been adjourned until April.

Raymond Dokpesi, is usually called “High Chief”.
Now that you seem to be in big trouble; Reporters are omitting his headline.
Did they forget or has he become a villain, in such a short time?
Or maybe, he is now a “Grand Thief”?

Raymond Dokpesi was arrested on an alleged rape charge against him in 2019.
Case adjourned until April. Uk are never forgiving and they work fast!

Atiku’s ally, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, has been arrested in the UK.
If the arrest had happened in Nigeria, the PDP would have issued a press release condemning the arrest and shouting that the ruling government wants to crack down on the opposition.

Good news coming from the arrest of Raymond Dokpesi in the UK, we want more of this. Since the UK has become the headquarters of Nigeria @AIT_Online pic.twitter.com/pwy0QxW2VK
