Luciano Spalletti has opened up about why he took Victor Osimhen out during Napoli’s draw with Roma on Sunday.
Osimhen scored a marvelous goal as the Serie A leaders defeated José Mourinho’s men 2-1 at the Estadio Diego Maradona.
Osimhen suffered a bad tackle in the second half of the match and fell onto the field, before Spalletti substituted him.
Many thought the striker suffered an injury as a result of a tackle, but the Italian coach said he replaced him for a completely different reason.
“You can’t always play the same guys and forget what you saw during each other’s week,
“We have to take into account what everyone is doing, how eager everyone is to show what they can do. Otherwise we are not full trainers.
“At the beginning of the season, when Osimhen was injured, Raspadori and Simeone allowed us to win the Champions League group, so it’s not fair to write them off now.” He said.
Osimhen leads the Serie A table with 14 goals in 16 games this season.
