FCT, Abuja – With less than a month to go before the 2023 presidential election, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) says it will host a series of dialogues with the presidential candidates.
NESG CEO Mr. Laoye Jaiyeola unveiled this new development on Monday, January 9 through a statement made available to Legitimate.ng.

He said:
“The Nigerian Economic Summit Group is ready to hold a series of dialogues on the Nigerian economy with the presidential candidates that will heighten discussions on the roadmap towards an inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.”

Jaiyeola revealed that the initiative was informed by NESG’s commitment to national development and its principle of providing an economic foundation for democracy.
Reflecting on the importance of next month’s presidential election, Jaiyeola said:
“Nigeria is at a turning point in its history and as we count down to the 2023 elections, it is critical, like never before, to encourage Nigerians to make informed voting decisions.
“The challenge ahead, therefore, is to ensure the evolution of a process towards leadership with a broad understanding of the issues and the political will to steer the ship of our great nation towards shared economic prosperity.”

As stated in the statement, Jaiyeola called on the presidential candidates to engage directly in an attempt to critically dissect some economic complexities and shortcomings and offer viable and realistic solutions to them.
The series of presidential dialogues is geared towards sensitizing Nigerian stakeholders and citizens on peaceful, informed and accountable democratic participation and would provide a unique platform and opportunity for the presidential candidates to discuss their economic agenda in a civil discourse environment. .
The Presidential Dialogue on Economic Policy will seek to curate content that focuses on the state of the economy and addresses citizen concerns ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
