This follows reports that the former vice president was flown to the UK a few days ago for medical attention.

Atiku’s handlers have come out to discredit the claim, revealing that the PDP presidential candidate traveled to the UK to comply with the British government’s invitation, but Tinubu insisted his rival was ill.

This was stated by the former governor of the state of Lagos in a statement from the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Onanuga Bayon Wednesday, January 11, 2023.

He also challenged Atiku to respond to a recent allegation against him following an audio clip surfaced online where the former vice president allegedly confessed to colluding with his former director, Olusegun Obasanjoto perpetrate acts of corruption during his tenure.

The statement read in part: “We have it on good authority that Atiku fell ill while missing from the field. In fact, he was in the UK seeking medical help, although handlers disguise that he was there at the invitation of some British officials in Whitehall, in a mimicry of APC rival Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s earlier visit.

“Despite the efforts of his handlers to portray Atiku as healthy and physically fit to withstand the rigors of the presidential campaign, images from the rallies have belied this. Campaign footage sometimes showed him being helped down steps in stadiums. He sometimes walked with an apparent handicap, dragging his feet.

“It is time for Atiku Abubakar, the 76-year-old Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, to come clean about two issues clouding his campaign: his state of health and the scandalous confession of how he colluded with his former boss, Chief Olusegun. Obasanjo, to fleece the Nigerian treasury, using the special purpose vehicles after he became vice president in 1999.

“If Atiku has even a modicum of honor, he should have withdrawn from the race he is destined to lose again, following the release of his audio clip, in which he provides a vivid explanation of the modus operandi of his legendary corruption.

“The multi-year lies and various diversionary tactics are no longer tenable. Atiku’s building of lies is about to crash into him. The PDP presidential candidate is certainly not doing well, despite the paperwork efforts.”
