The Federal Ministry of Youth Development and Sports has officially recognized and granted approval to the Nigerian Mixed Martial Arts Federation, NMMAF, as a National Sports Federation having met all conditions.

The approval was granted by the Minister of Youth Development and Sport, Sunday Dare, through a statement, under the supervision of the Federal Government.

The statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ismaila Abubakar, states in part, “after interfaces between your Federation and the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and Sports and having satisfied the preceding conditions, I am pleased to inform you that the Honorable Minister of Youth and Sport Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has approved the recognition of the Nigerian Mixed Martial Arts Federation as a National Sports Federation under the supervision and control of the Federal Government effective January 11, 2023.”

Furthermore, the Ministry of Sports noted that the recognition is in line with the Federation’s acceptance to comply with the Government Code of all National Sports Federations in Nigeria and other existing government regulations that unanimously approved the activities of NMMAF.

Reacting to the recognition through Federation media, NMMAF Chairman Ambassador Henry George thanked Minister for Youth and Sports Sunday Dare for the recognition and said this will fuel the growth of Mixed Martial Arts in the country.
