The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has declared that the year 2023 is a fresh start offered to the country’s citizens to enthrone genuine democracy and build a Nigeria they want and deserve on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party.

According to a Sunday statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Agbo Major, doing so would end the long national nightmare of citizens and the constant somersaults of policies that crippled the economy and made Nigeria the laughingstock of the community of nations.

Dr Major recognized that “the tasks ahead were enormous and so were the opportunities to build a strong, virile, united, progressive, prosperous, equitable and just democratic society.

NNPP noted that nation building was a collective responsibility of citizens and called for prayers, unity, tolerance and a shared vision.

The statement read: “We are grateful to God for his mercy and protection during a turbulent 2022 that tested our patience, resilience, and patriotism.

“As we approach the threshold of 2023, we are offered a fresh start to enthrone genuine democracy and build a new Nigeria that we all desire and deserve on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party. This will put an end to our long national nightmare and the constant somersaults of policies that crippled our economy and made Nigeria the laughing stock of the community of nations.

“The tasks ahead are enormous and so are the opportunities to build a strong, virile, united, progressive, prosperous, equitable and just democratic society. Nation building is a collective responsibility of citizens and calls for prayer, unity, tolerance and a shared vision.

“The new year and the upcoming general elections will provide Nigerians with a unique opportunity to elect patriotic, credible, courageous, honest, compassionate, versatile and God-fearing leaders who will change the destiny of the nation and steer the ship of state from its course. dangerous

“General elections are crucial for the survival of democracy in Nigeria. It requires the active participation of citizens in the electoral process.

“NNPP urges eligible Nigerians to collect their permanent voter cards, come out in droves and vote for their candidates in all elections, ensure their votes are counted and counted in the overall result.

“The will and the mandate of the people must be respected since the power belongs to the people. The party will resist any attempt to subvert the clear mandate of the Nigerians.

“Consequently, NNPP calls on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to provide a free playing field to all political parties and their candidates participating in the elections. The commission must ensure that all election materials are ready and delivered on time to ensure that citizens fulfill their civic duties that will chart the way forward for the country in the next four years.

“Security agents must be attentive to their constitutional duties and guarantee the adequate protection of people and electoral materials. The senseless murders and the burning of the INEC offices are a scandalous, barbaric and despicable comment, sad in our political process. This madness must stop. Enough is enough.

“The party urges political parties and their supporters to absorb problem-based politics and avoid the politics of bitterness and banditry that have impeded the nation’s democracy.

“Election is the beauty of democracy, its winners and losers must accept the result in a sportsmanlike spirit as their purpose is to provide strong leadership and build a new Nigeria that citizens can be proud of. There is no alternative to free, fair, credible, acceptable, transparent, peaceful and inclusive elections. Stakeholders must respect the sanctity of the ballot box.”
