The Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ), a support group of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has warned critics not to politicize the candidate’s achievements to gain cheap popularity.
In a statement on Saturday, the Justice Department’s national coordinator, Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, said politics and sentiments should be put aside to appreciate the good things in Tinubu for a better Nigeria.
“We want to dedicate this message to those who tell the truth, propagate the truth, defend the truth, fight for the truth and are willing to die for the truth,” Alawuje said.
“It is becoming obvious that some Nigerian politicians have successfully destroyed the lights of some of our religious leaders.
“To begin with, the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu is not perfect, he is not without flaws as a politician, but the little light in him completely outshines the darkness in others, if only we strive to put politics and feelings aside.
“Tinubu’s record and track record in upholding democracy stands out for all to see. We want to believe that those who fought and risked their lives for democracy must also think about how to protect what they fought for.
“His background in Nigeria and his background as Governor of Lagos State goes far beyond what anyone can hide under the guise of ethnicity or religion.
“No serious country or progressive nation in the entire world can allow dirty politics that seeks to minimize feats like those accomplished by Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
“Someone like Tinubu is not common in the African political system. For someone who is naturally a high achiever, a builder and an architect of a progressive nation, he should not be subjected to such a level of hate.
“It is time for the North and the South to come together and work to rescue Nigerians, especially our youth, who are supposed to be our outstanding leaders but are instead deeply divided along ethnic and religious lines.
“We are seriously disappointed in some of our religious leaders, who are supposed to come together and work to end the tribulations, frustrations, and all kinds of injustices against the citizens of this country, but who chose to spread evil.
“Some Islamic scholars base their own arguments that it has to be our tribal man, while some Christian leaders base theirs that it has to be our religious partner, in this same material period this is not necessary, we want to believe in both. they know the truth, but they finally decided to turn their backs on the truth.
“And we want to believe that these religious leaders will continue to turn to Nigerians right after the election and start telling us the words of Almighty God based on their various books, but today, they are completely devoid of the words of God.
“We call on all religious leaders to at least fear God and have sympathy for the Nigerian youth and masses by telling the truth.
“Because if, as some people believe, there is no fear of God in politicians, then what about religious leaders?
“And also calling on all progressive Nigerians to completely abandon ethnic and religious sentiment to protect and rescue ourselves, 2023 is another chance for Nigerians to decide for our future.
“We of the Disciples of Jagaban Independent Campaign Council (DICC) became fanatics in support of Tinubu, not because of what we would individually get out of him, which is why we didn’t really bother to. some political injustice that occupied the entire Tinubu campaign corridor today. , we are determined to allow ourselves to rescue Nigeria and Nigerians”.
