Naja’atu Muhammad, head of Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign team, has resigned.
She was Director of Civil Society on the Presidential Campaign Council of the ruling Congress of All Progressives.
The resignation of Naja’atu, 67, comes a month before the presidential elections.
His resignation letter on Saturday was addressed to APC national chairman Abdullahi Adamu, in which he also denounced the state of the nation.
He said that recent events in the political and democratic space made it impossible for him to continue participating in political parties.
“The challenges Nigeria is facing today compel me to continue to uphold the fight for a better country with a clear conscience and remain utterly loyal to Nigeria,” Naja’atu said.
He noted that he left the scene after realizing that his values and beliefs were no longer aligned with party politics.
Naja’atu observed that the party platforms have no ideological differences and are “robes worn by politicians to satisfy their personal needs and interests.”
“I am committed to supporting people who are genuinely interested in addressing the root causes of our challenges. To stay true to such commitments, one must be willing to take bold and decisive steps,” he added.
He regretted that citizens still face insecurity, poverty, inequality and lack of access to basic services.
Naja’atu said the problems required the consolidated efforts of competent and patriotic leadership at all levels of government.
Hajiya Naja, as he is affectionately called, advised Nigerians to be aware of the consequences of their decisions and choices in the 2023 elections.
