The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, promised that the party would improve the security and education of the country’s youth if it votes in the upcoming presidential election.

The former Lagos state governor also backed Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike for questioning the suitability of Peoples’ Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for the post of president.

Tinubu said this on Wednesday during a campaign rally in Kano.

He said: “We can make Nigeria better, safer and more prosperous. We can educate our youth, feed our people, and end fear. We can do these things. We can move you forward. But the others can’t. They want to stop you so that only they can move forward.

“They offer nothing more than false promises and easy answers that don’t hold up. All they can show you is how to hate your fellow Nigerian and shun your neighbor. They can’t show you how to protect our society, feed our people, provide jobs, and care for those who really need help.

“We must move on, but we cannot forget how they wasted our community. For 16 years they gambled with our lives and the future of this country. They spent $16 billion on electricity, but got darkness instead. They did not remember the pipes and processing facilities to give us electricity. They shared the money from the electricity generation between themselves and their cronies.”

According to Tinubu, the PDP cannot be trusted to keep its promises.

“Tell me, how will they fulfill their promise to the nation? No wonder, your party is in tatters! Governor Wike was right when he spoke of a lack of integrity.

“The PPD and its candidate do not care about your interests. They have no good intentions for you; They have no good intentions for the country. They pronounced the Green Revolution, but their regime only worked to increase food import bills for 16 years. What they understand is a ‘consumer economy’, not a ‘production-based economy’”.

In his remarks, APC vice-presidential candidate Senator Kashim Shettima, speaking in Hausa, promised that his government would build a railway line from Kano to the Republic of Niger and establish the proposed Kano Economic City.

He said, “Today, the people of Kano have shown us love and shown that Kano is the center of Northern politics, a point of political direction. We thank you very especially for this warm reception. We assure you that by the grace of God, if we are elected, the Kano AKK gas line from Ajakuta through Kaduna state will be completed, and we will complete the Kano expressway to Abuja.

“In addition, the railway starting from Kano via Jigawa to Daura and Niger will also be completed. The proposed Kano Economic City will be established because Kano is the center of Nigeria.”

Also speaking, Senate President Ahmad Lawan thanked the people of the state for the enthusiastic welcome.

He noted: “For us at APC we are not lazy, we go door to door campaigning for what we believed in and what we can do for our people and what will be of benefit to the country and our philosophy of rural development which includes the people.

“Today we have been endorsed by the people of Kano, which is what we longed for. This is the basis for the people of Nigeria that we will receive, God willing, in every part of the country.”

For his part, Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje thanked the huge crowd for turning out in such large numbers, saying their support for Tinubu is not out of place because “he has been tested and found worthy and can be trusted to will meet the country. ”

The rally was attended by the party’s national chairman Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, vice-presidential candidate Sen. Kashim Shettima, Senate President Ahmed Lawan and the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Kebbi Governor Sen. Atiku Bagudu .

Others include the Director General of the Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Council and Governor of Plateau State, Hon. Simon Lalong, as well as the governors Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Aminu Masari (Katsina) and Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), among others.
