Controversial musician Olawale Olofooro, popularly known as Brymo, has explained why he is backing All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to win the February 25 presidential election.

He said that Nigerian politics will improve with Tinubu as president.

Brymo gave the explanation in an interview with The punch.

Remember that the award-winning musician recently came under fire for comments suggesting the geopolitical zone of the south-east was not ripe enough to produce Nigeria’s next president.

He has since apologized for the comments, which were seen by many as anti-Igbo.

Brymo also advised those who criticize his decision to support Tinubu to wait until after the election.

“My response to them is to wait and let time bring what tomorrow has in store for all of us.

“I think BAT (Bola Ahmed Tinubu) is the incoming president and politics will be better if he is there. That’s all,” said the artist.

Asked if he agreed with suggestions that celebrities shouldn’t get involved in politics, Brymo said: “Yes, to a great extent. This is because a candidate’s story can rub off on us celebrities and leave us stranded when he may fail or lose. I know you are surprised. But, yeah, I’m still doing this. I can’t help it.

The musician debunked claims that he was financially induced to support Tinubu and make anti-Igbo comments.

“They used to say that I was broke when I talked like that before. Now, are you saying that I have been ‘activated’? This is crazy! Well, no. I have not been financially persuaded. I support one of my choice!” he said.
