A gang of suspected thieves operating a trike (Keke) between Effurun Roundabout and PTI Express in Delta state has been intercepted by an angry mob after a female passenger’s scream was robbed of her mobile phones and other valuables.

In the ensuing pandemonium, two of the suspected trike thieves escaped and went on the run, while one was caught by the angry mob who beat him to a stupor.

sunday punch deduced that the middle-aged woman had joined the commercial color-painted tricycle from the airport road at the PTI route junction when the three suspected robbers attacked her halfway and forcibly seized her mobile phones, a bag containing a sum of N5,000 and some other vital documents.

Consequently, the woman raised the alarm when Keke’s alleged thieves made forceful moves to remove her from the moving trike.

His shout drew the attention of passers-by and other motorists, and immediately, some commercial bus and trike drivers chased after the suspected thieves, eventually catching up with them.

Good Samaritans intercepted the suspects’ tricycle upon seeing the victim still crying for help.

In the melee, two of the suspected robbers escaped, while one was captured by an angry mob who nearly beat him to death as Nigerian Police security officers intervened.

While recounting her ordeal, the victim said that she entered the commercial tricycle from the airport road to the PTI junction before the three alleged robbers attacked her and stole her mobile phones, a bag containing a sum of N5,000 and some documents.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comment on the incident at the time of filing this report.
