UFC legend and former world champion Kamaru Usman will host the third edition of his FaceOff Fight Nights series on Thursday night, December 29 in Lagos.

This third edition, according to the organizers, will feature 22 wrestlers from six African countries.

These countries include Ghana. Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, among others.

Typically a series of high-level MMA events featuring fighters from across Africa, FaceOff Fight Nights blend sports and entertainment while giving sports fans the chance to watch professional fights live.

With a mission to promote African talent and make MMA a major sport in Nigeria and Africa, Usman’s MMA promotion AFRICAN KNOCKOUT (AKO) has provided many platforms including FaceOff Fight Nights to help new talent.

For this third season of the FaceOff Fight Night series, the owner of the most finals in AKO history, Nigeria’s “Machine Gun Shegz” will make his main event debut when he takes on a veteran of the sport, who he is currently on a winning streak. and is from the neighboring Republic of Benin, “Cheriff Drame”.

Cheriff Drame told PREMIUM TIMES about his joy at the huge opportunity he has to fight in Nigeria and also said that he has already seen his opponent’s previous fights and he is more than sure to beat him even in front of the home crowd.

“I am confident that I will beat him, I am not afraid of him or the fans, I am sure that the fans will even love me when I step into the ring, I will make sure to make them happy and extend my winning streak.” Drame said through his French interpreter.

Other combats

In the other fights, knockout artist “The Big Shark Emeka” has a chance to redeem himself when he takes on AKO Season 1 winner Ndidi Alonu in what promises to be another classic fight.

Additionally, the currently undefeated Melvin “Nicotine” Ugochukwu will take on AKO debutant Johnson Dennis, and Emmanuel Benard Eweh puts his unbeaten record on the line when he welcomes his opponent to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Josias Musasa.

In an exciting addition to this season’s Fight Night series, the MMA showdown will feature, for the first time, two women’s MMA fights in Nigeria, with Pamilerin taking on Juliet while Jane will look to make history when she takes on her energetic opponent, Queen.

The event announced for Thursday 29 December 2022 at the Landmark Events Centre, Oniru, Lagos, will feature sporting icons as well as dignitaries and representatives from the Lagos State Sports Commission.

While tickets are already being sold on wakaevents.ng, FaceOff Fight Night Series 3 will air on Supersport 2, Gotv and Supersport Variety 4 on DSTV. They will also broadcast it live for the international audience on the AKO Show YouTube channel.
