Senate President Ahmad Lawan has said that the Ninth National Assembly has remained steadfast in implementing its legislative agenda and has kept faith with Nigerians.
Lawan, in his New Year message, said the 2022 Electoral Law had ignited hope in the system and raised expectations about the 2023 general election.
Therefore, he called on Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunities provided to actively participate in the ongoing electoral process.
In a statement from his press aide Ola Awoniyi, Lawan said: “The 9th Assembly has been the deciding factor for many legislative curses in this Fourth Republic, having made progress in many areas of our national legislative environment that had defied the interventions from previous assemblies. .”

2023: A defining year for Nigeria
Furthermore, Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila said that the year 2023 would be significant for Nigerians, being the year when citizens would elect new leaders to run the affairs of the country.
Gbajabiamila, in a statement from his media adviser, Lanre Lasisi, said he was optimistic about the opportunities and possibilities ahead and urged Nigerians to remain resolute and determined.
The speaker wished Nigerians individual and collective success in 2023, and called for prayers for successful elections.
