Fans on social media have criticized the controversial Brazilian star after comparing his World Cup heartbreak to losing a family member.

The 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup held in Qatar saw Argentina unseat France to win the trophy for the third time in its history.

However, despite all the controversies surrounding last December’s masterpiece, the tournament delivered as promised and even exceeded expectations after witnessing incredible upsets in Qatar.

And while player teams have previously expressed disappointment at his team’s failures to lift the trophy, one player has now returned to the spotlight for his comments on his team’s latest shortcomings in football’s greatest masterpiece.

Selecao striker Richarlison may have gone too far with his explanation for the World Cup failure.

Asked how disappointed he was with Brazil’s exit from the December final, he said:

“It was a blow, I don’t know. I think it’s worse than losing a family member.” via ESPN Brazil.

“To this day, when I see videos on my social networks, it makes me sad. But we have to move on. I’m still young, I think I still have one or two World Cups to go.

“I will continue working hard so that things flow again, the goals start to come out, which is what I know how to do on the pitch,” he added.

Richarlison was a mainstay for Brazil in the last edition of the FIFA World Cup scoring three goals, including a spectacular bicycle kick against Serbia in the group stage that FIFA awarded as the Goal of the Tournament.

Following Richarlison’s outrageous comments, fans took to social media to criticize the controversial Spurs star.
