Zamfara State Police Command arrested two arms dealers, recovering 325 rounds of live ammunition and magazine for AK-47.

Command spokesman Mohammed Shehu said the suspects, Emmanuel Emmanuel and Nana Ibrahim, were arrested by police tactical officers along the Gusau-Dansadau highway, who were transporting the weapons.

Shehu said, “On January 8, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., police tactical officers arrested two arms dealers, One Emmanuel Emmanuel and his female counterpart, Nana Ibrahim.

“They were stopped along the Gusau-Wanke-Dansadau highway, transporting 325 rounds of live ammunition and a magazine for the AK-47 rifle.”

He said the arrest was a consequence of an intelligence received about the supply of the Benue state exhibits to an undisclosed bandit camp in Zamfara.

He maintained that a search of the site by operatives led to the recovery of the exhibits.

He said: “In the course of the interrogation, the suspects confessed to having been involved in various arms dealing deals with bandits operating in Zamfara and other neighboring states.

“Efforts are underway to arrest his associates and charge them in court for prosecution.

“Police Commissioner Kolo Yusuf assured the police’s sustained commitment to protect life and property, and urged the public to engage with law enforcement agencies in this regard.”
