The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit, congratulated AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef and other newly appointed members of the reconstituted board of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation and asked them to best comply.

The chairman, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), on Monday approved the reconstitution of the NDIC and approved the appointment of some new members and the reappointment of some existing members to the board.

The new appointees are Dr. Abdulhakeem Mobolaji Abdullateef, (Chairman) of the South-West Zone; Prof. Osita Ogbu, from the Southeast Zone; Umar Gambo Jibrin from the Central-North Zone; Mohammed Attahiru Haruna from the Northeast Zone; Yasmin Zabath Dalhatu from the northwest area; Simon Ogie from Zona Sur-Sur; Abimbola Olashore South-West Zone.

MSSNLagos Emir (Chairman) Miftahudeen Thanni tasked the newly appointed board members with justifying their appointments.

In a congratulatory message contained in a statement, Thani said that bringing on board a capable hand like AbdulLateef (Hon Iyepe, as he is affectionately called) demonstrated the government’s commitment to good governance.

However, the emir urged AbdulLateef and others to see the appointment as a test of their integrity, noting that Nigerians are counting on them to more than deliver.

He also noted that Hon Iyepe’s experience in the public and private sectors was suitable for the strategic office.

He said: “We congratulate the appointees and urge them to view their appointment as a test of their integrity. We believe your appointment is well thought out to show the Federal Government’s penchant for excellence.

“We look forward to Hon Iyepe and others bringing their academic intellect, international training, and professional and administrative experience to ensure the smooth running of the NDIC.

“We wish them success in their new roles and pray for God’s guidance at all times in their services to our great country.”
