After eight rounds of fixtures the Championship table is really starting to take shape. The pre-season favourites are living up to their billing as they sit top of the table. Here the leaders travel to an out-of-form Blackburn side that have slipped into the bottom half.

No stopping fabulous Foxes

It has been a record-breaking start to the season for Leicester following their relegation from the Premier League. Beating their last effort in their most recent campaign at this level which saw them go on to land the title and gain promotion to the English top flight in 2014.

Pep Guardiola’s former assistant Enzo Maresca became the club’s new manager in the summer. He has seen his side win nine of the 10 games they have played in all competitions since he took over.

Seven of those have come from eight league games and has them sitting on top of the Championship. The Foxes have won all four road trips scoring nine goals in the process, conceding just twice.

Blackburn have slipped down the table following two successive defeats shipping seven goals as they were beaten by Sunderland and Ipswich. Although priced as the favourite to emerge as the winner here, I was expecting Leicester to be shorter odds than they are. They look a class above at this level and I am happy to start my tips by getting them onside here.

Mavididi to out fox Rovers defence.

Stephy Mavididi has some impressive clubs on his CV and can drop a famous name or two into a conversation as well. Having not made the breakthrough from Arsenal’s academy he joined Juventus where he rubbed shoulders in training with Cristiano Ronaldo who was with the club at the time.

After making one senior appearance for the Italian club he was loaned to Dijon in France on the recommendation of none other than Thierry Henry. Impressing enough in Ligue 1 to secure a permanent move to Montpellier and amassing pretty decent stats of 115 appearances scoring 26 goals across four seasons.

His return to his native England as a 25-year-old has started well. Playing off the left as he did at Montpellier he has already scored twice and averages a shot every 30 minutes with exactly half of his attempts being on target.

Mavididi is powerful, direct and has explosive pace, always looking to cut inside and head to the penalty area. Illustrated when winning a penalty for the crucial opening goal in the recent win at Norwich. Expect him to cause lots of problems for this Rovers defence and convert at least one of his attempts at goal.

Card for Carter looking likely.

This addition to my predictions is related to the goalscorer pick I just outlined. As mentioned the dangerous Stephy Mavididi will look to cut in from the left and attack the box.

That area will be patrolled by Blackburn’s right centre-back Hayden Carter. The 23-year-old has played every minute of his side’s Championship campaign so far.

Carter has only conceded eight fouls so far this term which is the third highest in the Blackburn team. However, three of those have led to yellow cards which is a number none of his teammates can top.

Expect him to be very busy with Mavididi running at him with pace. As most defences have found out this season he is a tough man to stop by legal means
