I want to draw the attention of the general public to the heinous act of violence, property destruction and malice against my supporters by the person I defeated on May 23, 2022 during the primary election for Kaduna Central Senatorial District in Ahmadu Bello. Stadium here in Kaduna.

Yesterday, December 26, 2022, I was struck by the occurrence of a meeting of candidates for various positions in our Party, the PDP at the Atiku/Okowa Campaign Office in Kaduna. I told the person who informed me of the meeting that I was not invited as such and that I would respect his privacy and stay away from the meeting place.

Apparently, the meeting held yesterday was in preparation for the campaign banner of our gubernatorial candidate, the Hon. Isa Ashiru among other matters discussed at the meeting. Today, December 27, 2022, my supporters took our campaign buses in solidarity with the gubernatorial candidate and accompanied him to Kajuru, where the flag raising would take place. What I thought I was doing for the success of our great match turned out to be ambushing my supporters by one Usman Ibrahim AKA Sardaunan Badarawa and his cohorts.

Our campaign buses were entangled in a hail of stones, sticks, knives and daggers. They destroyed many of our campaign buses and seriously injured many of the occupants of the vehicles.

God is my witness, I have forgiven enough. I obeyed the courts when the Kaduna 1 High Court wrongfully ruled against me. I stopped campaigning and consulting for votes out of respect for the courts and the rule of law. Fortunately, the Court of Appeal returned the mandate to me on December 19, 2022. This sentence is what some people are not happy with, to the point that the individual Badarawa went on the air and openly criticized the ruling of the Court of Appeal, an action that is derogatory to the honor of the courts.

The individual stated categorically that he does not recognize the verdict. I called out to my supporters and warned them to remain calm despite the pain of such malicious statements against the courts, civility and the rule of law. Unfortunately for them, they took it a notch higher today by physically attacking our campaign property and injuring dozens of my beloved supporters.

This is for the general public to take note that my policy is not one of vandalism, violence or malice. But I will continue to comply with the law and will report any wrongdoing against me and my followers by any individual or group to the proper authorities for proper redress.

Thank you.

Hon Lawal Adamu Usman
PDP Candidate, Kaduna Central Senatorial District
