Senate leader and former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu described the death of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chairman General Professor George Obiozor as a colossal loss for the nation.
Praising the late former envoy’s virtues, Kalu said Obiozor made invaluable contributions to nation-building in various capacities.
He noted that the late diplomat was a nationalist passionate about Nigeria’s growth and progress, adding that his wise counsel and intellectual contributions to the global discourse will be greatly missed.
The former governor stressed that the deceased was a rallying point for his contemporaries and the younger generation, many of whom seek advice and advice from him.
Kalu said: “It is with a heavy heart that I regret the passing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chairman General, Professor George Obiozor.
“The passing of the envoy is a great loss to Nigeria and the international community, in view of the strong roles the late diplomat played at the sub-national, national and global levels.
“His intellectual contributions to world discourse were enormous and commendable.
“The personal attributes of the deceased were anchored in justice and equity.
“He was a strong advocate of an ideal and just society anchored in credible leadership and good governance.
“The late President General lived a purposeful life and left remarkable legacies for his family, loved ones and leaders to maintain.”
Kalu took pity on Ndigbo, the government and the people of Imo State as he prayed to God to grant the late statesman eternal rest.
