Former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, and staunch member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party in Oyo State, Wole Oyelese, revealed that he intentionally boycotted the G5 governors’ campaign inauguration on Thursday in Ibadan because they are working against the party presidential candidate. , Atiku Abubakar.

Oyelese revealed this in a phone conversation with The PUNCH on Thursday.

PUNCH reports that the G5 governors led by Nyesom Wike of Rivers State were in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, to begin the re-election campaign of one of their members, Seyi Makinde.

Other members are the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu; Benue State, Samuel Ortom and Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The former minister said: “I couldn’t be there because the so-called G5 governors are working against the party’s presidential candidate who is the symbol of the party. For any serious politician, he will not attend such a function. Attending will be an indirect way of approving what they are doing.

“Our knowledge of politics can never be the same. A serious politician who understands politics will not attend. Have you ever wondered why Ademola Adeleke, the current Governor of Osun State and PDP Governor in the South West, was not there? Why was Adebutu not there?

“Remember, Adebutu sent someone to us yesterday (Wednesday) to take part in our Freedom March. If you tick the flag, no one from Ekiti State, no one from Ondo. Fayose is one of the people who support G5. Although we don’t know why they are compatible with the G5.

“Then it couldn’t have been there. That means I’m giving approval to what they’ve been doing. By going there, it’s like I’m supporting them,” she insisted.
