A 40-year-old man, Nuhu Usman, from Dangarga village in Burra district of Ningi local government area of ​​Bauchi state, allegedly shot and killed one of his two wives with a Danish gun.

The suspect was said to have loaded his local gun and kept it by his side while he slept, thinking that his eldest son, who held a grudge against him, would come to his room to harm him.

Usman was sleeping when his wife went out to urinate, and upon returning to the room, he thought that it was his son who had entered the room to attack him, so he took his gun and shot him in the stomach.

Public Relations Officer of the Police, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, who stated this in a press release made available to reporters on Friday, said the victim was rushed to the hospital where a doctor certified him dead. .

“Officers attached to commando arrested Nuhu Umar Usman, male (40) from Dangarfa village via kyata Burra district Bauchi state.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect slept in the same room with his late wife that night, the suspect had two wives and six children. That there was an altercation between the wives, to the point that the eldest son held a grudge against his father and threatened to hurt him. Prior to that incident, the eldest son threatened his father. This caused the suspect to load his Danish gun and kept it by his side throughout the night awaiting any intruders, possibly his eldest son.

“The investigation revealed that on December 28, 2022, around 2 am, while he was sleeping in the same room with his wife, Ladi Nuhu (37), from the same address, she left the room to relieve herself. On his way back to the bedroom, the husband woke up and grabbed the Danish gun upon hearing suspicious movement near her bedroom and shot her directly in the stomach. As a result, she suffered injuries. The victim was rushed to Burra General Hospital, but certified dead by a doctor. Police Commissioner Aminu Alhassan has ordered the suspect to be charged before the court upon completion of the investigation,” he stated.

Wakil further said that a 50-year-old woman was also arrested by commando officers for allegedly killing her co-wife.

He said the suspect, Amina Guguwa, from Miya Village, Warji Local Government Area of ​​Bauchi State, strangled her co-wife, Amina Koli (60) after a physical confrontation on January 1, 2023. “Amina Guguwa , the suspect, criminally used force on the victim by forcefully strangling her by the neck and, as a result, she died instantly,” he said. .
