mbam said the decision to adopt LP’s gubernatorial candidate was made at a meeting attended by youth organization leaders and stakeholders, including Mr Edward NwenuPioneer Forum Chairman, and Mr Mike Nwambamimmediate past president

He was also present at the meeting Chief Peter Oyonthe president of the council of elders, among others.

According to Mbam, the decision to endorse Nkwegu stems from his outstanding leadership qualities; business prowess and humanitarian dispositions.

The forum noted that after evaluating the other candidates from the other political parties, the LP candidate possessed the qualities required to provide good governance.

The group therefore appealed to the electorate to make wise decisions in 2023 to free the state from the chains of mismanagement, tyranny and bad governance through their votes.

The forum also insisted on the need for balance of power and equity, emphasizing that it was the turn of the Izzi people in the Ebonyi North senatorial area to produce the next governor of Ebonyi.

Mbam said that the BoT members reviewed the political developments, especially in the area of security, and resolved to mobilize the youth of Ebonyi against political hooliganism, banditry and bullying.

The forum appealed to the Governor Dave Umahi-led the All Progressive Congress (APC) government to allow a level playing field for all political parties in the state to compete like that’it is the hallmark of democracy.

The forum, although it rejected the candidacy of Mr. Francisco Nwifuru of the APC, asked for the support of the other zones to enable the emergence of the LP candidate as the next governor of the state.

We evaluated Izzi extraction candidates, including Mr Francis Nwiifuru of the pro-government APC, and we found that the LP candidate stood out in all the indices we used for the evaluation,Mbam said.

The forum, which called for a change of power, said Izzi’s people supported Dr Sam Egwuthe first Civilian Governor of the Ohaukwu Local Government Area in 1999 and 2003.

“We equally support him in realizing his senatorial ambition, which led him to win two consecutive terms.

“We remind our brothers in the central senatorial area of Ebonyi to support us in producing the next governor, just as we supported his brother, Chief Martin Elechi, to emerge in 2003 and 2007 respectively.

“We also call on our brothers in the Ebonyi South Senate area to remember that the youth forum first declared a shift of power to Ebonyi South in 2015, which led to the emergence of Chief Dave Umahi as two-term governor.

“We hereby adopt Dr. Edward Nkwegu, LP gubernatorial candidate, as our consensus candidate for the 2023 gubernatorial election in Ebonyi.

“This is in line with fairness, fairness and justice.

“We hereby call on all the sons and daughters of Izzi Nnodo, both at home and in the diaspora, to unite in supporting the candidacy of Edward Nkwegu, added.

The forum recalled that in 2015 and 2019, Nkwegu contested for governor but did not receive the support of the Izzi people due to his belief in fairness, fairness and justice despite his contributions to human capital development.
